MAHS Tardy Policy

 

1st period: All students must be in class by 7:20 A.M. each day. All students arriving after the tardy bell stops ringing, without an Excused Tardy Slip, will be counted as tardy.

All students arriving after 8:00 A.M., without an Excused Tardy Slip, will be counted as absent.

 

2nd, 3rd, & 4th periods: All students must be in class when the tardy bell stops ringing. All students arriving after the tardy bell stops ringing, without an Excused Tardy Slip, will be counted as tardy.

 

The following dispositions will be used in dealing with tardiness:

· 4th  tardy:   Student will receive teacher assigned Detention and will not be eligible to exempt the published exam period.

· 5 - 6  tardies: Student will receive teacher assigned Detention.

· 7 plus tardies: Student will receive an Administrative Referral assigning student to ISS, OSS, Saturday School, and/or loss of Parking Privileges.

 

Students accumulating more than 4 tardies in any one period will not be eligible to exempt the published final exam period in that class.

 

Attendance Incentive

 

In order to be eligible to exempt the published final exam period a student cannot h ave more than three (3) absences and must have perfect attendance for all standardized tests given at their grade level.

 

Only those absences related to an approved school function will be exempt when determining the total number of absences needed to exempt the published final exam period. (To include but not limited to: approved school field trips, assemblies, testing, Saturday School, etc.)

 

Certain absences will not be exempt when determining the total number of absences needed to exempt the published final exam period. (To include but not limited to:  ISS, OSS, excused absences, unexcused absences, etc.)

 

Any student who is assigned ISS or OSS during the semester will not be eligible to exempt the published exam period.

 

Perfect attendance does not exempt a student from a state mandated test (ex: End of Course Test)

 

Grade Incentive

 

Any student with a semester grade average of 75 or below will not be eligible to exempt the published exam period.
