Teacher of the Year

EIP Teacher

Even as a little girl, I knew that someday I would become a teacher. To me, teaching is a gift I have been given, and I am so blessed to be able to do something every day that brings me joy. There is nothing more rewarding than making a difference in a child's life. This is my 26th year in teaching, and each day if unique.

I attended Middle Tennessee State University where I received a B.S. in mathematics. I later attended Georgia State University where I received a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.  In 2005, I attended Lincoln Memorial University where I completed my Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision.

I have had a variety of teaching experiences, each of which has helped me to grow professionally.  I taught one year of 1st grade in Alabama.  After moving to Georgia with my husband, I taught math to 7th and 9th graders.  I then taught grades 4 and 5 at Barksdale Elementary and grades 2 and 4 at Sims Elementary  in Rockdale County. This is my 5th year of teaching at Atha Road in the Early Intervention Program.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Ted, and we have two lovely daughters.  Jamie is a high school Spanish Teacher, and Jennifer will graduate from Georgia State University in December.

I am truly honored to have been chosen Teacher of the Year at Atha Road Elementary.
