Monroe Area High School's Profile 2009-2010
Monroe Area High School is located in Monroe, Georgia, about 40 miles east of Atlanta and 25 miles west of Athens. Monroe Area High is a traditional high school in the Walton County Public School System which includes grades 9 through 12. Monroe has full accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Georgia Department of Education Accrediting Commission. The current school enrollment for the 2009-2010 school-year is 1272, with 218 students in the graduating class of 2010. Monroe offers the students a variety of educational and recovery opportunities to further their educational goals.
BLOCK SCHEDULE Monroe Area High School operates on a two-semester system and uses a 4x4 block schedule. Classes meet for 90 minutes each, five days per week, for 18 weeks totaling 135 contact hours per course.
