A Message from Mrs. McGaughey It is an honor to serve as Atha Road's Assistant Principal. I grew up in this community, and love the fact that I can give back to the system that I attended and graduated from. My husband and I both are in our 16th year as educators, and our passion is working with children. In fact, we have 3 children of our own.
I attended Troy State University, where I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. So when I received an offer to teach 5th grade in my hometown, I was eager to begin my career here. Shortly afterwards, I transferred to Gwinnett County, where I taught 4th graders for many years. While in Gwinnett, I obtained my Masters' Degree in Specific Learning Disabilities and my Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I eagerly sought a position in leadership, and began that path as an Instructional Coach in Walton County. It wasn't long before I knew that I wanted to go into Administration. My journey in education led me to Atha Road Elementary, where I am enjoying my 4th year working with the students and families as we continue the 'Tradition of Excellence'. |
